history
The Terziarinnenkloster, consecrated to St. Maria Porten, was founded in 1591 by Barbara von Bernhausen at Hochaltingen Castle ; it was dissolved in 1807 in the course of secularization , but the monastery had only insignificant property. In 1862, a donation from Princess Georgine von Öttingen-Spielberg and Princess Mother Amalie introduced two terziaresses from the then motherhouse in Pirmasens to the hospital in Hochaltingen Castle and handed over the administration to them. In 1899, the Dillingen Franciscan Sisters acquired the entire Hochaltingen Castle for the equivalent of around € 36,000 and built a new monastery.
