St. Gabriel Monastery (Altenbergen)

The St. Gabriel Monastery is an Orthodox monastery in Altenbergen in Thuringia . It is the seat of the Archdiocese of Myreon in Germany of the Genuin Orthodox Church of Greece .

Monastery complex

The monastery complex consists of a monastery church, a residential building and a guest area. Up to 40 guests can be accommodated there. The monastery offers opportunities for reflection, but also for meetings and holiday guests.

Three monks, a novice and a nun live in the monastery. It is directed by Archbishop Moses .

history

In 2012 the monastery was founded by Mor Severius Moses in a former cottage settlement. In 2014 it was solemnly consecrated as the seat of the metropolitan and primate of the Antiochene Syriac Orthodox Church in Germany.

In 2016 it changed to the Holy Metropolitan Synod of the paternal calendar of the Church of the True Orthodox Church of Greece ( Genuin Orthodox Church of Greece ) as the seat of the newly created Archdiocese for Germany.
