Kludi brand center

Kludi is an international company that develops and manufactures bathroom and kitchen fittings, showers and bathroom accessories. The company was founded in Menden (Sauerland) in Westphalia in 1926 , has its headquarters there and today employs over 1000 people in three European and one non-European plants.

Kludi has the legal form of a GmbH & Co. KG. The production and logistics center is located at the company headquarters in Menden and in neighboring Fröndenberg, as well as the company administration and a training and visitor center, the Kludi Brand Center (picture). Today, Franz Scheffer, the grandson of the company founder, is the sole shareholder of the company.

history

Kludi was founded in 1926 by Franz Scheffer senior as a tin pressing shop and foundry and manufactured accessories for bathroom and kitchen needs. During the Second World War, the company produced cooking appliances from sheet metal. In 1948 Franz Scheffer's son Paul joined the company. With the purchase of the Klusendick company - a fittings foundry - in 1965 he laid the foundation for the company's growth. The current brand name of the company Kludi is derived from Klusendick. In 1991 Paul Scheffer handed over the management to his son Franz. Today Franz Scheffer heads a company advisory board.

Growth and Internationalization

In 1980 the Kludi factory was founded in Hornstein / Austria - today the largest Austrian manufacturer of sanitary fittings. In 1990 the Eisenberger Armaturenfabrik (Eisenberg in Thuringia ) joined the Kludi Group. The group has been producing in its own factory in Diósd , Hungary, since 1993 . In 1996 the Polish plant in Opole was opened. Since 2006, Kludi has been running a joint venture for fittings production with RAK ​​Ceramics in the United Arab Emirates ( Ra's al-Khaima ). In 2010, the Kludi-RAK joint venture founded a sales subsidiary in Mumbai, India, to supply the Indian subcontinent with valves.

Brand and brand interpreter

Kludi products are not only marketed under the Kludi brand - the company also appeared as a brand interpreter for bathroom solutions. Bathroom solutions for international fashion and jewelry brands were developed as part of the “Brand Partnership” business model. These include Joop's bathroom (2003), the Swarovski bathroom (2005) and the Esprit bathroom (2007).

Bad cartel

In 2010 the company was sentenced by the EU Commission to pay 5.5 million euros for price fixing. Along with several other companies in the sanitary industry (Grohe, Villeroy & Boch, Duravit, Dornbracht, Hansa, Hansgrohe), Kludi was part of the so-called "Bad Cartel".
