Nikos Papazoglou

Nikos Papazoglou ( Greek Νίκος Παπάζογλου , born March 20, 1948 in Thessaloniki ; † April 17, 2011 ibid) was a Greek singer and composer . His songs - partly written himself, partly by other composers or lyricists, including Manolis Rasoulis (Μανώλης Ρασούλης) and Nikos Xydakis (Νίκος Ξυδάκης) - are among the most famous in his homeland. Since the mid-1980s, Papazoglou has released six long-playing records and CDs and has worked on many other musicians' projects.

His musical development began in the 1970s when he played with a band in the style of Aphrodite's Child at several festivals. a. in Germany. Stylistically, Papazoglou's music can be classified in the border area between traditional Greek and Asia Minor music as well as modern pop and rock music. Some CDs were recorded with a “western” line-up, i.e. drums, electric guitar and bass, supplemented by bouzouki and baglamas . Others were recorded with acoustic instruments only. The lyrics of his songs are - although very poetic, metaphorical and not easily accessible - very well known and are often sung along by the audience like hymns. Papazoglou's visual identification mark at public appearances was a red scarf.

Among the most famous songs by Papazoglou include Κανείς εδώ δεν τραγουδά (Kanis edo the Tragouda / No one sings ) Ένα κι ένα κάνουν ένα (ena ki ena Kanoun ena / one and one makes one ) and Μάτια μου (Matia mou / My Eyes ) .
