Field of activity

The group is active in the travel business with various subsidiaries and brands. The passenger transport sector includes Eurobus, Car Rouge and Geriberz. Essential services are provided in public transport, including by Rottal Auto AG, E. Meier AG, Regionalbus Lenzburg and others. The companies Welti-Furrer, Pneukran and Bollhalder provide services in the field of removals, heavy transport and crane.

history

The company was founded in 1909 by Johann Knecht as a horse and cart stop at Brugg train station . The first transport services were provided with an iron-tire and chain-driven truck and the first air-tire Autocar for 26 places.

In 1948 the company passed to the sons Hans, Walter and Paul Knecht, from which the name Gebr. Knecht , which was valid for the group until 1998 , arose. The two most important takeovers took place in the early 1990s, when the Knecht Group acquired the Eurobus group, which specializes in package tours, group travel and regional public transport, in 1992 and the removal and transport company Welti-Furrer in 1993 . Various smaller acquisitions followed. In July 2008, Thomas Knecht took over the office of his father Walter Knecht as Chairman of the Board of Directors in the third generation.
