Knee book

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A knee book is a picture book with spiral binding in a large landscape format that is presented with the help of a stand sitting on the lecturer's knees. When reading aloud , the children look at the large pictures on the side facing them. In addition to scaled-down images, the reader can also read the text on the back.

Knee books are the ideal form of presentation for larger groups. Two sturdy cardboard boxes guarantee (for example, in the case of a group of seats in the kindergarten) that the reader can stand safely on the knees. Knee books offer a lot of creative freedom and are an incentive for the treatment of further learning content. The children's voice can also be encouraged with themed songs.

A knee book can contain further information:

  • pedagogical / didactic information
  • Suggestions for exercises to promote language skills
  • Songs to sing together

Knee books and picture book cinemas are suitable for work in smaller groups in kindergartens and primary schools .
