Picture book cinema as an event

Picture book cinemas are mostly run by day care centers , elementary schools or public libraries . Many public libraries regularly offer picture book cinema events.

As part of a picture book cinema event, the children can talk about the text, the illustrations or further questions. The children are introduced to dealing with books, listening to and understanding stories or the topics dealt with in the book. Thus, a picture book cinema can be used as part of promoting reading . A picture book cinema event can be part of an educational project, a teaching unit or a larger event.

Use of the media

The images are usually presented on the screen with a slide projector or beamer . Media centers or libraries offer appropriate media packages as a combination of a picture book and the associated slide series or CD-ROM / DVD-ROM for loan. The slides contain the illustrations of the respective book without the text printed in the book. The CD-ROM / DVD-ROM contains a file that also only contains the illustrations for the book. Some publishers offer a selection of picture book cinemas as files for download on their homepage .
