Schematic sketch of Wedge Tomb using Iceland as an example

The Wedge Tombs of Knockcurraghbola Crowlands I and II or West and East are once mighty wedge tombs on the southern slope of a small hill in the townland of Knockcurraghbola Crowlands ( Irish Tailte Corónach Chnoc Corrbhuaile ) in County Tipperary in Ireland . They are located about 1.8 km southwest of the Knockcurraghbola Commons Wedge Tomb . Wedge Tombs ( German  "Keilgräber" ), formerly also called "wedge-shaped gallery grave", are aisle-free, mostly undivided megalithic buildings from the late Neolithic and early Bronze Age .

Crowlands I or West

The inner and outer walls, which have enclosed a very narrow and long chamber with no cap stones, are largely preserved. At the foot of a tree there are some rocks that were perhaps the cover plates and other orthostats of the system. The wedge tomb is oriented to the northeast in the normal manner of turbines of this type.

Crowlands II or East

About 150 m from Crowlands West, Crowlands East is a largely destroyed wedge tomb, of which only two stones have survived. The rest of the stones could be one of them or they could be field stones. However, it is oriented southwest-northeast and thus follows the normal pattern for wedge graves.
