Knoglers joy

Knoglersfreude is part of the municipality of the Upper Bavarian city of Ingolstadt .

The district is located on the southern Danube side about 5 kilometers southwest of the city center. The original name of the settlement was Hackenschwaige. In 1831 it was renamed Knoglersfreude on the occasion of the 67th birthday of the wealthy master dyer Clemens Knogler . The historical place name remained popular and as a street name.

The settlement was dominated by farmers until the 20th century. After the construction area Knoglersfreude-Süd was designated in 1993, the number of inhabitants rose sharply. Today 647 people live there (as of December 31, 2004). Structurally, the district has grown together with Hundszell to the east and belongs to the south-west district and here to sub-district 53 "Hundszell / Knoglersfreude".
