On Knopsstrasse, the Protestant kindergarten from the middle of the 19th century, Knopsstrasse 35, and the transformer house form an assembly group . The old Catholic school Luisenstrasse and the Protestant elementary school Knopsstrasse are also nearby. The three-storey brick building originally served as a transformer and rectifier building for the municipal transport company. The building is set back considerably from Knopsstraße in order to have a forecourt for the parking of machines and devices. The building has a full basement. A two-story rectifier hall was on the ground floor, while living rooms and workshops were housed on two upper floors.
