Knut Hartwig (born November 13, 1969 in Münster ) is a former German soccer player who made 71 second division games for Wuppertaler SV from 1992 to 1994 . In addition, he played in the regional league for Rot-Weiss Essen and Preußen Münster for many years .

Hartwig became famous in the football film Das Wunder von Bern , in which he played the late German captain Fritz Walter . He received praise from Walter's ex-colleague Horst Eckel for his portrayal .

In the 2007/2008 season he coached the Witten soccer club SV Herbede 1916 e. V., with whom he had previously played actively.

Today Hartwig is Head of Media & Communication at the German Football Museum in Dortmund.
