Three hickey on the neck.

A hickey (also hypobaric sugillation ) is a skin bleeding caused by negative pressure , which is caused by sucking or biting on erogenous parts of the body, such as the neck , which is usually meant to be tender . Especially in the years of first sexual contact - depending on the person wearing it and the originator - hickey are often embarrassments hidden with a scarf or by putting on make-up or trophies openly displayed .

Hickey spots appear like " bruises " when small blood vessels burst. The blood is then distributed in the surrounding tissue. Hickey usually only last about a week, rarely longer than four weeks. Like so-called “blue spots”, they go through different phases: from red to blue and green to yellow. Cooling with ice (e.g. cold compress) or gels containing dimetind accelerate healing.
