background

The previous single Detlev , which was not a great success, but brought in enough money, gave Ixi the opportunity to publish another single. Compared to the previous single, which is about how a girl wants to send her boyfriend on the line , The Knutschfleck was a rather harmless song. The song is about a girl who allows her boyfriend to do anything but not a hickey . The song is attributed to the Neue Deutsche Welle .

The song was released as a single in 1983. In addition to the original version with 4 minutes and 2 seconds, a "long version" with 5 minutes 27 seconds was also published on 12 ". On the B-side of both versions there was I xxxx you . The song was also released on Der Knutschfleck (all hits in maxi version) , the only album (basically a compilation ) in Ixi's short career.

The hickey was Ixi's only hit . It was placed in the German single charts for 16 weeks and reached number 8 as the highest position. In Austria it came in at number 12 and stayed in the charts for four weeks.

Republication

In 1995, in the wake of the pop techno wave in the mid-1990s, a new arrangement by Der Knutschfleck was produced under the title Der Knutschfleck '95 . Ixi himself had re-sung the text. The music came from Reunion, a production team put together by Felix Kautsky. A video was also produced for the song, which contained many kissing scenes. By Mercury Single located only in the promo period remained below expectations and was ultimately released only a few pieces for promo purposes. The video was also withheld. The song was later made available to a wider audience on the New German Dancefloor Level 3 sampler by Polystar .
