The Coalition of the Left (KdL, English Left Unity , LU, French Coalition des gauches , CG) was a parliamentary group in the European Parliament  between 1989 and 1994. It consisted of 14 members from communist parties that were considered “ loyal to Moscow ”.

Predecessor was the faction of the Communist and Allies , which after the 1989 European elections in the KdL and the euro Communist Group of the European United Left split (VEL). After the European elections in 1994 , the KdL was absorbed into the Confederal Group of the European Unitarian Left  , which today operates under the name of the Confederal Group of the European United Left / Nordic Green Left .
