Cobalt violet
Cobalt violet (outdated also cobalt bronze ) refers to violet color pigments that are salts of the metal cobalt .
All types of cobalt violet are completely lightfast and of outstanding color purity .
Dust from cobalt salts is carcinogenic if inhaled, otherwise the arsenic- free cobalt violet pigments used today are comparatively harmless.
As a name for paints , the term also includes colors imitated with synthetic colorants .
Cobalt violet dark
color code: # A0409A
Dark cobalt violet is chemically cobalt (II) phosphate , Co 3 (PO 4 ) 2 . It was discovered in 1859 and is in use to this day. It is not alkali-resistant , but otherwise the most powerful and intense violet pigment.
The color shade is about 11.5: 2: 2 according to DIN 6164 .
Cobalt violet light
color code: # F820D4
Light cobalt violet (formerly also cobalt pink ), whose hue is more of a bluish pink , was originally cobalt arsenate , Co 3 (AsO 4 ) 2 , as the mineral erythrin , and was discovered around 1800. It was one of the most poisonous pigments. Therefore, it has been increasingly replaced by other cobalt salts of a similar color. These include cobalt ammonium phosphate , CoNH 4 PO 4 , and more recently cobalt lithium phosphate , CoLiPO 4 .
The color shade is about 12: 4: 3 according to DIN 6164 .
