As Kobayashi Ryu ( Jap. 小林流 ) is of Chōshin Chibana reasonable flow within the SHORIN Ryu in Karate designated.

Surname

The name Kobayashi ( 小林 ) arose from an alternative spelling and / or reading for Shōrin (Chinese / Japanese 少林 / 少林 , or also Japanese 小林 ), which is the Japanese pronunciation for Shàolín . Both literally mean “small forest” in both Chinese and Japanese, but Shōrin often uses the original Chinese spelling for the first character, which means “small” ( ), while Kobayashi refers to the very similar one in Japan more common characters with the same meaning ( ), and thus the usual Japanese designation and reading for a "grove" falls back.

history

Chibana Chōshin passed on the teachings of his master Itosu Ankō . His students Miyahira Katsuya ( Shidōkan ), Yuchoku Higa ( Kyudōkan ) and Shuguro Nagazato ( Shōrinkan ) continued the style after Chibana's death in 1969 in their own schools.
