history

Kocaeli BB Kağıtspor, founded in 2000, failed three times in the finals of the Superliga at Polis Akademisi ve Koleji between 2004 and 2006 . In 2007, the team became Turkish champions for the first time when the fourth attempt in a row was able to take revenge for the previous defeats in the final. In the 2007/08 season, the team from İzmit reached the playoff final again, but lost for the fourth time in the last five finals against Polis Akademisi.

By winning the championship in 2007, Kocaeli BŞehir Kağıtspor qualified for the European Cup for the first time and took part in the 2007/08 IIHF Continental Cup as a Turkish representative . In the first qualifying round in Miercurea Ciuc, Romania, they met the hosts of SC Miercurea Ciuc , KHL Mladost Zagreb from Croatia and CG Puigcerdà from Spain . Although they were eliminated in third place, they were able to prevail 5: 4 against the Spaniards and thus achieve the first European Cup victory in the club's history.
