Kodak Ektachrome
Ektachrome is a photographic slide- making film released by Kodak. It differs from the Kodachrome , which is only a few years older , in that the required color couplers are already included in the film. The organic dyes are formed and stored in the relevant layers during film development. This allows the film to be processed using the simpler and faster Eastman Color reversal process (e.g. E-6 ) - which makes it the archetype of today's slide film.
history
A distinction must be made between various individual products, such as the
- Ektachrome Commercial (since 1958),
- Ektachrome EF (1965-1975),
- Ektachrome ER (1960-1965),
- Ektachrome MS (1963 to approx. 1977),
- Ektachrome Print Film (since 1971),
- Ektachrome R Print Film (since 1966),
- Ektachrome Video News (since 1975).
The Ektachrome color reversal film was produced until March 2012. Then Kodak announced the discontinuation of slide film production due to steadily declining sales, with the expectation that existing stocks would be sold out in six to nine months. This applied to all slide films manufactured by Kodak up to that point, such as B. the Ektachrome 100 G and the Ektachrome 100 VS as well as the Elite Chrome Extra Color 100.
Kodak Ektachrome has been shipping again by Kodak since October 2018.
Resolving power
The graininess is reported as an RMS value . The resolving power was measured at various object contrasts (1.6: 1 and 1000: 1) and is given in lines per millimeter.
