Codification means the collection and inclusion of norms in a look-up, written set of rules, for example in the area of social or linguistic norms .
Codification in knowledge management describes the document-based exchange of knowledge. Explicit knowledge is recorded and stored for reusability (e.g. in databases ) with the aim of gaining a knowledge-based economic advantage over the competition.
