Kogatana

The term Kogatana ( Japanese 小刀 , cf. Katana , homograph with Shōtō ) is made up of the characters “small” and “knife / sword” and means in both Japanese and Chinese (reading: xiǎodāo) “(small) knife ".
In German Kogatana means :
- The accessory knife that is carried in the sheath of Japanese swords . The often ornate metal handle of this knife is called a Kozuka .
- A type of tool knife, which is called Kiridashi or Kiridashi-kogatana in Japanese .
