Koh Kong (pronunciation in IPA : [ kaːo̯h koŋ ]; Thai Kaôh Kŏng ; Khmer កោះកុង ; German " Island Kong " ) is an island in western Cambodia on the Gulf of Thailand near the border with Thailand .
The mangrove forests on the coast near Koh Kong have now been largely replaced by environmentally harmful shrimp farms .
