Coleoptiles
The Coleoptile (also Coleoptile , occasionally also Koleoptil or Coleoptil ) describes the protective organ for the first leaf of the Poaceae ( monocotyledons ). Because of its sensitivity to light and heavy stimuli, the coleoptile serves as an object of investigation for reactions that are controlled by the phytohormone auxin . The auxin produced in the coleoptile is transported via the top of the plant to parts of the plant further below by means of active transport. There it causes cell growth / stretching of the cells . The cells on the exposed or shaded side of the plant are supplied with auxin to different degrees , so that the plant grows towards the light ( plant movement ).
