Kollmar & Jourdan's House
The Kollmar & Jourdan House is a listed former factory building of Kollmar & Jourdan AG at Bleichstrasse 77 to Bleichstrasse 81 in Pforzheim . It houses the Technical Museum of the local jewelry and watch industry , the Pforzheim Gallery and the Carlo Schmid School Pforzheim of the International Federation.
The factory building was built between 1901 and 1910 according to plans by the architects Hermann Walder and until 1977 housed a jewelry and bijouterie manufacture. A special Art Nouveau feature is the street side of the building, which is clad with colored glazed brickwork. The unusual color scheme shows light green wall surfaces interrupted by pale white and brownish tones.
In the parapets of the second floor were jewelry medallions inserted ceramic. These jewelry medallions at Bleichstrasse 77 show relief - Tondi with five figural relief busts , which symbolize the five continents: Africa, Australia, Europe, Asia and America. The overhang at the main entrance at Bleichstrasse 81 shows Gothic forms.
