description

The museum was in 1983 under monument protection standing Kollmar & Jourdan-house , the former jewelry factory Kollmar & Jourdan , furnished. The initiative to establish a technical museum, however, goes back to 1979, when Pforzheim's mayor of culture, Fritz Wurster , set up a support association for this purpose against the background of the closure of some of the city's jewelry factories at the end of the 1970s. The production machines on display come from the stocks of these closed jewelry factories. The city of Pforzheim has been responsible for financing the museum since 1984.

In the jewelry department on the ground floor of the Technical Museum of the Pforzheim jewelry and watch industry, various production steps and jewelry making techniques from different times are shown at 18 stations. The watch department on the first floor deals with all essential steps in watch production in Pforzheim.
