The Kollumerpompster within the Groning (No. 1).

The Kollumerpompsters (own name: Pompsters ) is a transitional dialect between the West Frisian language and the Lower Saxon Gronings . Despite the strong Frisian influence, it is counted as Lower Saxon ("Nedersaksisch").

The Kollumerpompsters is spoken in the town of Kollumerpomp in the municipality of Noardeast-Fryslân in the northeast of the Dutch province of Friesland . The Frisian language area begins to the west of the town, and the Lower Saxon dialect Westerkwartiers is spoken to the east . It is currently assumed that around 200 mostly elderly people still speak the Kollumer pompster.

It is assumed that the Kollum pompster has a lot of similarity to the Altgroninger dialects, in which the influence of the Frisian substrate language was even stronger.
