Noardeast-Fryslân ( West Frisian , Dutch Noordoost-Friesland ) has been a municipality in the Dutch province of Friesland since January 1, 2019 , which emerged from the municipalities of Dongeradeel , Ferwerderadiel and Kollumerland en Nieuwkruisland .
geography
The Wadden Sea forms the natural border in the north, while the province of Groningen borders to the east of the municipality . In the northeast is the Lauwersmeer National Park , which extends over the former bay, the Lauwerszee . Following a horizontal course, the river Dokkumer Ee flows through the municipality.

politics
On November 21, 2018, the first local election took place in the municipality of Noardeast-Fryslân. The citizens of the communities of Dongeradeel, Ferwerderadiel and Kollumerland en Nieuwkruisland could vote for the national parties CDA , ChristenUnie , PvdA , VVD and the regional party FNP as well as the local parties Eerste Local Partij Noardeast-Fryslân, Gemeentebelangen Noardeast-Fryslân and Waddenpartij. The turnout was 46.42%.

The office of mayor was temporarily taken over from January 1, 2019 to January 6, 2020 by Haijo Apotheker ( D66 ), the former mayor of the merged communities of Southwest Fryslân and Waadhoeke . From now on Johannes Kramer ( FNP ) holds the office.
