Omrop Fryslân

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Omrop Fryslân is a Dutch television and radio broadcaster and part of Publieke Omroep , which is comparable to public broadcasting in Germany . Omrop Fryslân differs from the other Dutch television and radio stations in that it uses the West Frisian language instead of Dutch. Omrop Fryslân was founded in 1988 and initially limited to radio, in 1994 Omrop Fryslân TV was added as a regional television broadcaster for the province of Friesland . The Omrop Fryslân has 36 hours of airtime on the NPO 2 television channel every year , as the Dutch authorities have set themselves the task of promoting the West Frisian language in the media.
