Kolpokleisis

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kolpokleisis (from ancient Greek κόλπος kólpos "womb", "vagina"; κλειδώνω kleiosis "close") is called an operative closure of the vagina .

Kolpokleisis used to be more common, but is now only rarely performed to treat a vaginal-uterine prolapse . Through improved anesthesia options , more intensive internal preparation of the patients before and improved care after an operation, the vaginal occlusive surgical procedures have increasingly been replaced by vaginal uterine removal with vaginal plasty.

A Kolpokleisis is a relatively simple, less invasive, less stressful and short-lasting procedure that can sometimes also be carried out under local anesthesia . This makes such interventions particularly suitable for older multimorbid patients who no longer have sexual intercourse . Disadvantages of the different variants are a higher frequency of recurrences, frequent (secondary) stress incontinence , and the inaccessibility or poor accessibility in later diseases of the uterus .

The most common, multiple modified, vaginal closing operations are:

  • Subtotal Kolpokleisis according to Labhardt
  • Subtotal Kolpokleisis according to Neugebauer-LeFort
  • Cross-bar color chart according to Döderlein
  • Kolpokleisis after Conill
