Komba ( Indonesian Pulau Komba ) is an Indonesian volcanic island. It belongs to the administrative district ( Kabupaten ) Lembata (province of East Nusa Tenggara ).
geography
Komba is about 60 kilometers north of Lembata , off the Lesser Sunda Islands in the Banda Sea .
The island is formed by the active 748 m high Batu Tara volcano . The coast is steep, making it almost impossible to land on the uninhabited island. The slopes of the volcano are covered with thick vegetation and gravel fields. In the southeast the volcano has partially collapsed and the summit crater is therefore open to the sea.
