Composite can (packaging)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Composite cans are packaging for bulk goods and other dry foods such as powdered milk, snacks, pastries and confectionery. Tobacco and pharmaceutical products are also sold in composite cans.

history

The composite cans emerged after the Second World War as a cheaper alternative to the widely used tinplate can. The name of the packaging is explained by the combination of different basic materials: it consists of 90 percent refined recycled paper , the base and closure are made of plastic or metal . Composite cans are mainly manufactured with an aluminum or paper membrane on the top as a tamper-evident seal. The bottoms are made of cardboard, plastic, tinplate or aluminum , depending on the filled product . Composite cans stand out from other forms of packaging because of their stability and good (re) sealability, as well as their freshness and flavor guarantee. Composite cans are available in round and non-round standard formats with different filling heights and a capacity of 50 milliliters to 5 liters.
