Combination therapy

Under a combination therapy ( coll . "Combination therapy") refers to the treatment of a disease with two or more therapies , for example, several drugs as well as tumor therapies in which the same one, radiotherapy one and chemotherapy is performed. Both drug forms (for example tablets ) which contain two or more drugs ( coll . " Combination preparation ") and several drugs can be administeredeach containing only one drug. In contrast, treatments that use only one drug are known as monotherapy .

An example of a combination therapy is highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) in HIV patients. In tumor therapy , a combination of radiation therapy and chemotherapy is carried out at the same time .
