history

Kon Sameti in 1970 in the PN Club Munich

Kon Sameti was founded in 1970 by Christian "Shrat" Thiele, a former member of the band Amon Düül II , and Harris Johns in Munich. The drummer called himself Cuby, and Steve McHarald played the last shows in 1970 as a bassist. The biggest appearances were in the Kunsthalle Cologne , at the Burg-Herzberg Festival and at the “First German Progressive Pop Festival ” in Berlin.

After a year, Shrat and other musicians formed a new band under a different name. Harris, who had moved to Berlin, played similar music under the name "Navaho" until 1977.

In 2014 Harris Johns revived Kon Sameti with two old friends, as he used them to polish up his pieces from the 1970s, and the new tracks sound like psychedelic hard rock after the 1970s. The first appearance was at the Swamp Festival in Berlin. After 49 years, the band performed again at the Burg-Herzberg-Festival in 2019. Manne M. Basso played with Harris at Navaho back in the 1970s. Lukas has been playing the drums since the original drummer Klaus "KDW" Walter left in 2018.

style

In 1970 Kon Sameti mainly played improvisations that developed around a few fixed themes. Shrat sang or played congas or violin . The band Kon Sameti, resurrected in 2014, works similarly on some of the tracks, albeit with clearer structures and new ideas. If you listen closely, their music turns out to be original and unique.

Frank Schäfer from Rock Hard writes about the current demo: "Psych Rock with pounds, who occasionally ignites the weed rocket to leave Earth orbit, and gives Harris Johns enough space as a sound tinkerer and improviser."
