The Kone is a volcanic complex in Ethiopia , which is located about 30 kilometers southwest of the Fentale . It consists of eight calderas and young basaltic cones. It is also known by the name of its youngest, 5 × 7.5 km and elliptical, Caldera Gariboldi . Its edge is approx. 100 m high and overlaps on the eastern side with another smaller caldera. The last eruptions in the first half of the 19th century ejected basaltic and rhyolitic lava flows in a hinge line between the smaller eastern caldera and the larger caldera located in the west. The calderons show some irregular shapes.
