Confederation of Ethiopian Trade Unions

The Confederation of Ethiopian Trade Unions is an alliance of eight trade unions in Ethiopia .

The President of the Confederation of Ethiopia is Amare Alemayehu , which is based in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa . In December 2007 this group had a total of 203,560 members. The Confederation of Ethiopian Trade Unions is affiliated with the World Trade Union Confederation and is considered government controlled.

The Confederation of Ethiopian Trade Unions was founded in January 1977 under the Derg regime by Mengistu Haile Mariam as the all- Ethiopian trade union . The all-Ethiopian trade union changed its name in 1986 to the Ethiopian trade union , from 1993 it was finally called the Confederation of Ethiopian Trade Unions.

The Confederation held its last regular meeting, the 23rd in total, on March 10th, 2009. She celebrated the resolution of the disputes within the labor movement.
