Conference of Peza
The Peza Conference on September 16, 1942 was a meeting of Albanian partisans who fought against the occupation forces of the Axis powers . The initiative came from the Communist Party . During the meeting in the village of Peza west of Tirana , the representatives of various resistance groups decided to form a joint national liberation movement. A council of eight members was elected to lead it. It included people as diverse as the Communist Party leader Enver Hoxha and the monarchist Abaz Kupi .
After the Peza conference, the various groups hardly succeeded in taking joint action against the occupiers. Some of the resistance fighters - those who later organized themselves in the Balli Kombëtar - stayed away from the national liberation movement at all. In order to improve the military coordination of the partisan groups, the Mukja Agreement was concluded a year later .
