The congress hall was built from 1960 to 1961 by Friedrich Tamms on Fischerstrasse in Düsseldorf-Pempelfort . After the new exhibition center near Stockum was completed, the congress hall was converted into a town hall. The Radschlägersaal was added later, making the dome in the courtyard unnecessary as an event location and offering itself as a new sound hall. On July 3, 1992, the city sold the area on Fischerstrasse with the city hall and Radschlägersaal for 156 million DM to Victoria Insurance. This had the building demolished because the property was needed for the expansion of the development on Victoriaplatz. Before the Congress Hall D sculpture "pylon" of standing Max Kratz . After the congress hall was demolished, it was installed on the airport grounds , where it still stands today. The sculpture was a striking landmark of the Düsseldorf trade fair.
