Construction phase

Construction of the new building began on April 1, 2011. The first commissioning took place on October 28, 2011 during the “ Alles für den Gast Salzburg ” trade fair from November 5 to 9. With the congress exhibition hall, exhibitors at the Salzburg Exhibition Center now have a total of 39,257 m² of hall space and 21,777 m² of outdoor space at their disposal.

The building project was implemented in a record time of around seven months by Alpine Holding in cooperation with the architecture office kadawittfeldarchitektur (Aachen / Graz), the civil engineering office Herbrich and IPC Projekt Consulting (both Salzburg). Around 75 Austrian companies were involved in the realization of the congress exhibition hall; around 60 percent of these came from the federal state of Salzburg and 25 percent from neighboring Upper Austria . Contracts worth a total of 90 percent of the construction costs were awarded to companies in Salzburg. Alpine Holding received the “Bautechpreis 2012” for the congress exhibition hall project and was awarded for the most spectacular construction machine deployment in Austria. By indenting the facade on the entrance side on the ground floor, a covered outdoor space is created along the exhibition boulevard, which offers exhibition and congress visitors a comfortable entrance with weather protection. The approximately 400 m² boulevard-side glass surface can be illuminated in different colors depending on the desired mood. On the first floor, a window front along the conference area opens up a view of a mountain panorama. Two spacious seating areas provide a view of Hall 10 from the conference area.
