history
Today's Messezentrum Salzburg GmbH was founded as the Salzburg Exhibition Center Ges.mbH in 1973 by the owners of the City of Salzburg , the State of Salzburg and the Salzburg Chamber of Commerce (renamed Messezentrum Salzburg GmbH in 2000). The Salzburg Exhibition Center is owned by the State of Salzburg and the City of Salzburg with a share of 39.3% and the Salzburg Chamber of Commerce with a share of 21.4%.
In 1969 , a new, permanent venue was sought for the Salzburger Volksfest Dult , and the local council decided on the location on the grounds of the Salzburg Exhibition Center.
In 1974 the first three finished halls with a trade fair (AutoZum) could be used for the first time and opened after completion of the fourth hall (1974). In autumn 2011, the construction of the new congress exhibition hall with an exhibition area of 15,165 m² by the architects Kadawittfeldarchitektur was completed. The 1972 m² conference area also opened in August 2012. Today 10 halls are available. The Salzburgarena was built in 2002–2003 , an event location for up to 4900 people.
With the A1 connection point Messe (Exit 291), the exhibition center has its own motorway entrance and exit, which leads directly to the parking area with 3000 parking spaces.
