The Monumento has been a biennial fair in Salzburg since 2012 .

The trade fair for monument preservation is held annually alternating with the Leipzig trade fair monument and brings together national and international experts in monument preservation and many other interested parties under one roof . This includes archaeologists , restorers , architects and planners, civil engineers as well as art historians , craftsmen , local politicians , building material manufacturers , builders , investors and owners of historic buildings, art and culture lovers.

The Monumento takes into account the diverse and interrelated topics of monument protection and preservation as well as the inseparable areas of restoration and conservation . The fair is accompanied by a program of events with lectures and partly closed congresses.

The 2nd Monumento took place from January 16 to 18, 2014 with the main topic “Stone”. Almost 200 exhibitors from eight countries were represented. At the third edition of Monumento from January 28 to 30, 2016, 174 exhibitors from eight countries were on site. For the European Cultural Heritage Year 2018, 177 exhibitors used the international platform to present and network. Around 3,000 visitors came to the Salzburg Exhibition Center from January 11th to 13th.

Monument protection and Wikipedia on the 2nd Monumento

In 2014 , an international technical discussion with Wikipedians from Austria, Germany, the Czech Republic and Slovakia as well as representatives of monument protection authorities from Austria, Bavaria, South Tyrol and the Czech Republic took place at the fair, under the patronage of the Austrian Federal Monuments Office (BDA) . Among other things, formal and informal collaborations between Wikipedia and specialist authorities in various European countries were discussed.
