Schwabenlandhalle Congress Center
The Schwabenlandhalle Congress Center is a culture, congress and conference center in Fellbach on the northeastern city limits of Stuttgart . It is common to speak of the Schwabenlandhalle .
Facts
The hall was inaugurated in September 1976. It is considered an honorable example of German architecture from the 1970s. The architect Gerhard Keller from Süßen in the district of Göppingen was awarded the contract to build the Schwabenlandhalle . It was the result of winning first prize in an architectural competition in 1970. The competition was sponsored by the city of Fellbach. It was built from 1972 to 1976.
The hall embodied one of the first culture and congress centers in the Stuttgart region and quickly developed into a meeting point for culture, society and business. The occupancy rate in 2003 was over 125,000 visitors and 372 events, which is quite high. Almost 30 years after it was built, the hall was completely renovated.
After a two-year construction period (2004–2006), an additional component with an area of approx. 1000 m² was made available to the public. The extension was built by the architecture office AP Plan Mory-Osterwalder-Vielmo GmbH , Stuttgart, based in Berlin. This office emerged as the winner of a limited, open design competition. In 2011 there were almost 130,000 visitors at 569 events.
The hall technology as a whole is considered to be above average and is continuously adapted to the expanding needs of a modern hall design. The hall ensemble is also valued for its quiet location - nonetheless located in the middle of the Stuttgart metropolitan area.
The overall picture of the interior of the extension is described as factual, but transparent. This effect is achieved through the high proportion of glass in the building, the height of the room and also a gently reflective aluminum look. Play of light and shadow, based on the window struts and pillars, let the contrasting parquet floors “live” and give them charm and space. Individual darkening options, air conditioning, variable partition walls, fixed and mobile projection surfaces are standard. The complete drivability of the hall (ground level) enables complication-free and barrier-free access for large goods.
The so-called New Foyer is also a special feature, a fusion of the large foyer of the old building and the foyer of the extension building. This is technically guaranteed by mobile glass walls, the opening of which enables a large event foyer, while the closing of which allows undisturbed parallel events.
Events
In the Schwabenlandhalle, theater performances of touring productions take place regularly. Other cultural events include the performance of plays, ballet, operas, musicals and concerts. In addition, conferences, congresses and exhibitions are held.
Meeting rooms
Two halls are available as conference rooms (Hölderlinsaal with 1300 m² and Uhlandsaal with 350 m²). In addition, the Hesse and Mörik rooms as well as the Daimler and Kepler rooms can be used. The conference and exhibition space covers a total of 4000 m². In addition to the foyer areas, this area is distributed over eleven rooms.
The Hölderlinsaal forms the center of the Schwabenlandhalle. As a useful space for cultural events, congresses, banquets and balls with a capacity of up to 1400 people, it also has a multifunctional meaning. From the middle of the hall, the rows of seats rise up like an arena and thus provide an optimal view of the stage. The smaller Uhlandsaal is especially available for small and medium-sized events.
The heart of the extension is formed by the clearly differently sized Mörike and Hesse rooms (the large room). Together with the new foyer, congresses, exhibitions and celebrations are also possible here, especially since various room layouts are possible using partition walls and wall openings. Up to 450 people can be accommodated and thus even more than in the Uhlandsaal.
partner
One of the partners is a neighboring hotel, which is directly connected to the hall. A catering company has been commissioned exclusively to provide catering. The organization of the Schwabenlandhalle is also in partnership with the Alte Kelter , once the largest communal wine cellar in Germany, and the music school that is also in the immediate vicinity.
technology
The modern technology consists of:
- Presentation technology
- Internet access, WiFi hotspot
- Simultaneous interpreting technology
- TV system with large screen projection
- Sound, lighting and stage technology
- Connections for direct television broadcasts
- Satellite system
- Infrared system and induction loops for the hearing impaired in the Hölderlinsaal
