Konrad Hungerbühler
Konrad Hungerbühler (born October 11, 1952 in Zurich ) is a Swiss chemist .
From 1994 to 2018 he was full professor for safety and environmental protection technology in chemistry at the Institute for Chemical and Bioengineering at ETH Zurich .
Hungerbühler studied chemical engineering at the ETH Zurich. He did his dissertation on the subject of kinetics and scale-up in the continuous mass crystallization of potassium alum with John Russell Bourne . Between 1979 and 1994 he worked in chemical engineering at Ciba in Basel , where he was head of a research department in the textile division.
At the ETH, Hungerbühler worked in the area of integrated development with the eco-efficiency and safety of chemical products and processes. For 2017 he was awarded the Wöhler Prize for Sustainable Chemistry from the Society of German Chemists .
At the end of January 2018, Hungerbühler retired.
