from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As Kontagienlehre the view is meant that at epidemic is a disease of infection by germs , hits by direct contact or through the air.

It was formulated in the 16th century by Girolamo Fracastoro and taken up again in the 19th century, for example by Jakob Henle . In the early bacteriological era, the dispute with the competing miasma theory played a major role.
