Contract systems are various agreements between a manufacturer and a reseller . The reseller in a contract system can act as a wholesaler or a retailer . A contract system secures the manufacturer on the one hand his planned sales market or those markets in which he would like to enter.

A contract system between a manufacturer and a distributor can even influence the production planning system, provided that these contracts are coordinated on the basis of product group management .
