Converter gas

Converter gas is the gas mixture exiting the converter during crude steel production using the oxygen blowing process, consisting of approx. 15 percent by volume carbon dioxide , approx. 65 percent by volume carbon monoxide , approx. 18 percent by volume nitrogen and approx. 2 percent by volume hydrogen . Like furnace gas, it is counted among the dome gases and can be used, for example, to generate electricity.
