Konya İdman Yurdu was a Turkish football club from the central Anatolian city of Konya and was founded in 1923. From 1971 to 1981 the club was a permanent member of the TFF 1st Lig and joined the city rivals Konyaspor in the summer of 1981 .

Entry into professional football
As part of a project for the nationwide establishment and promotion of professional football, which he started the Turkish Football Association (TFF) in the 1960s, the third highest professional football league, the 3rd Lig , now known as TFF 2nd Lig , was introduced in the summer of 1967 . In addition, it was announced that after certain requirements and conditions have been met, you can apply for participation in the league. Konya İY fulfilled the conditions for the first third division season, the 1967/68 season , and thus became a founding member of the 3rd Lig.
Promotion to the 2nd league and the second division seasons
In the fourth third division season, the 1970/71 season , the championship of the 3rd Lig achieved the first ascent in the club's history to the 2nd Lig . Promoted to the 2nd Lig, they played ten seasons throughout.
Merger with Konyaspor
In the summer of 1981 Konya İY merged with city and league rivals Konyaspor . The newly created club got its name Konyaspor and Konya İY the club colors green and white. Konyaspor previously had the club colors black and white.
