Coptic Museum (Cairo)

The Coptic Museum was founded by Marcus Simaika Pascha in 1908 and completed in the late 1920s. It is located in the Coptic Quarter of Cairo on the site of the historic Roman fortress " Babylon ".

The museum documents the history of Christianity in Egypt . Over 16,000 objects (icons, paintings, sacred art, manuscripts in various languages) are exhibited in 12 departments. The museum has expanded several times since its inception.
