Korberoth is a desert in the southern district of Sonneberg (Thuringia) in the area of the municipality of Frankenblick .

history

In 1334 the hamlet was first mentioned as Curbenrode and in 1343 it was sold by Carl von Schaumberg to the Sonnefeld monastery .

The previously independent community had 21 residents in 1910 and became a district of Effelder in 1923 .

Between 1972 and 1984, as part of the "border security measures" of the GDR on the inner-German border in 1980 , the residents were forcibly evacuated and the remaining buildings razed to the ground. The village pond has remained. A memorial stone erected in 1991 and an annual memorial service commemorate the events. Today Korberoth only exists as a field name.
