Partner municipality

Since 1991 there has been a community partnership between Frankenblick and Waldstetten (Ostalbkreis) in Baden-Württemberg.

Culture, sights and tourism

The community of Frankenblick is part of the Schaumberger Land tourism association. This also includes the city of Schalkau in the Sonneberg district. With the entry of Rödental, the catchment area of the tourism association expands to include Upper Franconia.

The oldest recipe for the much-vaunted Thuringian dumplings comes from Pastor Friedrich Timotheus Heim from the Effelder district of the Frankenblick community in his handwritten topography of the parish game Effelder (1808–1814) .

traffic

Frankenblick is on the Eisfeld – Sonneberg railway line . The breakpoints in Rauenstein (Thür) , Seltendorf , Effelder (Thür) , Mengersgereuth-Hammern and Mengersgereuth-Hammern Ost are located in the municipality . Trains of the South Thuringia Railway run every two hours .

dialect

In the community of Frankenblick the Main Franconian dialect Itzgründisch is spoken, which shows the ethno-cultural affiliation to the Franconia region .

coat of arms

The municipal coat of arms shows the coat of arms of the Upper Saxon margraves of Meissen on the top left . From 1353 to 1425, the municipality belonged to Coburg as part of their domain until 1918, when it went to the Upper Saxon Wettins . At the top right is the coat of arms of St. Kilian , to whom the Protestant church in Effelder is consecrated. At the bottom left is the coat of arms of the Franconian noble family of the Schaumbergs and at the bottom right is the coat of arms of the Lords of Sonneberg . Both noble families ruled the area until the end of the 13th and beginning of the 14th century. During this time the municipality came to the Mark Brandenburg as part of the new rule of the Franconian Henneberger in 1291 .
