Rolf Rosenbrock

Rolf Dietrich Rosenbrock-Freese (born May 1, 1945 in Mengersgereuth-Hammern ) is a German health scientist.

Life

From 1964 to 1966, Rolf Rosenbrock completed a commercial apprenticeship at Busch Jaeger Dürener Metallwerke AG in Düren and Lüdenscheid . He then studied business administration, political economy and social sciences at the Free University of Berlin (FUB) until 1972 . From 1970 to 1972 he worked as a tutor at the Technical University of Berlin (TUB) in the department of urban planning and architecture . From October 1973 to July 1974 he was on a postgraduate fellowship from the FUB at the Instituto Latinoamericano de Investigaciones Sociales in Santiago de Chile. Based on the experience he gained through the political situation in Chile , he then became involved in the association Kinderhilfe Chile and was one of the founding members of the campaign to free political prisoners in Chile .

In 1974/75 Rosenbrock was a research assistant at the Otto Suhr Institute and in 1975/76 at the research center of the Association of German Scientists in Hamburg . In 1977 he was promoted to Dr. rer. pole. PhD at the University of Bremen . From 1977 to 1984 he was a research assistant at the International Institute for Comparative Social Research at the Science Center for Social Research (WZB) in Berlin , and from 1984 to 1987 as a representative of Director Frieder Naschold at the Labor Policy Research Center at the International Institute for Comparative Society Research at the WZB. 1988 habilitation he Lecturer in Social Sciences / Health Policy at the University of Bremen . From 1988 to 2012 he was head of the public health research group (until 1995 research group health risks and prevention policy ) at the WZB. In 1996 he became an adjunct professor for social sciences and health policy at the TU Berlin, since 2007 he has taught in the same function at the Berlin School of Public Health at the Charité University Medicine of the Humboldt University in Berlin .

Rosenbrock was a member of the National AIDS Advisory Board (NAB) (1995–2006) and the Central Ethics Commission at the German Medical Association (2010–2015). From 1987 to 1990 the 11th German Bundestag was an expert member of the Enquete Commissions Structural Reform of Statutory Health Insurance and Dangers of AIDS and Effective Ways to Curb it . From 1999 to 2009 he was a member of the Expert Council for the Assessment of Developments in Health Care (SVR-G) (until 2004 Expert Council for Concerted Action in Health Care (SVRKAiG)), Chairman of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Federal Center for Health Education (BZgA) (2001– 2012), from 2006 to 2008 member of the board of the German Society for Public Health (DGPH). Since 2006 he has been the chairman of the State Association of Health Berlin-Brandenburg eV and since April 2012 honorary chairman of the Paritätischer Wohlfahrtsverband - Gesamtverband . In this role, he was President of the Federal Association of Independent Welfare Care (BAGFW) in 2015 and 2016 .

In the media, he repeatedly takes a position on socio-political issues, for example in the Tagesspiegel , in the Frankfurter Rundschau or in the left-wing Junge Welt .

Honors

In recognition of his services to strengthening health promotion and prevention in Germany and for his commitment to combating social inequality, Rosenbrock was awarded the Salomon Neumann Medal by the German Society for Social Medicine and Prevention (DGSMP) in 2013 . In March 2017, the Federal President awarded him the Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon for his special services , which Senator Dilek Kolat presented to him in June 2017 .
