About this picture

Föritztal is a community in the district of Sonneberg in the Franconian south of the Free State of Thuringia , which was formed on July 6, 2018 by the merger of the communities of Föritz , Judenbach and Neuhaus-Schierschnitz . It is named after the Föritz , a tributary of the Steinach .

Neighboring communities are, clockwise, starting in the north: Sonneberg , Tettau , Pressig , Stockheim , Mitwitz and Neustadt bei Coburg .

The community is divided into the districts of Eichitz , Föritz , Gefell , Heinersdorf , Heubisch , Jagdshof , Judenbach , Lindenberg , Mogger , Mönchsberg , Mupperg , Neuenbau , Neuhaus-Schierschnitz (with Buch , Gessendorf , Mark , Neuhaus and Schierschnitz ), Oerlsdorf , Rotheul , Rottmar , Schwärzdorf , Sichelreuth and Weidhausen .

history

As part of the Thuringia municipal reform in 2018 , the municipalities of Föritz, Judenbach and Neuhaus-Schierschnitz decided to voluntarily merge municipalities in 2016. This was passed on June 21, 2018 within the framework of the Thuringian law on the voluntary restructuring of municipalities belonging to the district in 2018 (ThürGNGG 2018) by the Thuringian state parliament . The law was published on July 5, 2018 in the Law and Ordinance Gazette of the Free State of Thuringia and came into force the following day.

On October 28, 2018, the first councilor and mayor of the municipality of Föritztal was elected. Until then, the state representative of the district of Sonneberg for the municipality of Föritztal - Wolfgang Scheler - led the business of the municipality and the three municipal councils of the former municipalities met together.

Andreas Meusel (CDU) was elected the first mayor of Föritztal with 95.8% of the vote. He prevailed as the only candidate in the first round.

The federal highway 89 runs in the southern part of the municipality and the federal highway 4 runs along the southwestern edge . Various state and district roads open up the remaining parts of the community. Föritz and Neuhaus-Schierschnitz had a rail connection on the Sonneberg – Stockheim line until 1946 . The Ebersdorf b.Coburg – Neustadt b.Coburg railway ran through Heubisch and Mupperg until 1945 ; Heinersdorf was connected to the Pressig-Rothenkirchen – Tettau railway until 1952 and had a stopping point. All railway connections were interrupted by the inner-German border and not rebuilt.

The municipality of Föritztal has had a logo since it was founded . The logo is designed as a word and image mark and forms the basis of the corporate design. It shows the stylized Thuringian Forest in various shades of green and the Föritz river in blue; the lettering föritztal. in black color completes the design by the local designer Jens Kaufmann. The municipality of Föritztal does not yet have a coat of arms.
